CAC Specialty’s Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Team

Dec 14, 2021

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is an exciting technological advance that will help us navigate the energy transition.  CAC’s subject matter experts across all disciplines are prepared to help clients with the risk management challenges CCS presents.

ABOUT CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is the separation and capture of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the emissions of industrial processes prior to release into the atmosphere, and storage of the CO2 in deep underground geologic formations.

KEY BENEFIT: CCS enables industry to continue to operate while emitting fewer greenhouse gases (GHGs), making it a powerful tool for addressing mitigation of anthropogenic CO2 in the atmosphere.

PRIMARY RISKS: CCS technology presents physical and engineering risks, including construction and operations, tax, financial assurance, financing and pollution. Storage must be safe, environmentally sustainable and cost-effective.
