Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Meeting, team and business people in discussion in the office planning a corporate strategy together. Diversity, teamwork and professional employees working in collaboration on a project in workplace.

At CAC Specialty, our people are our greatest asset. We embrace our colleagues’ diverse array of experiences, talents and ideas. We firmly believe that these contribute to smarter decision-making and improved outcomes, ultimately driving our success. While we recognize that the insurance industry has historically fallen short on DE&I, we at CAC Specialty strive to do better and are committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion at all levels.

Across our firm, including our client and insurer relationships, we embrace diversity of background, perspective, culture, and experience. We firmly believe that diverse perspectives and collaboration among colleagues help generate better ideas to solve the complex problems our clients face.

We believe that discussing, promoting and engaging in DE&I work helps employees feel safe, respected and more connected, which leads to a strong sense of community at CAC Specialty.

Headshot of Mike Rice "Our hiring philosophy revolves around the realization that there are talented people everywhere across the United States who should be a part of our team. As leaders, it’s our responsibility to find those people and to cultivate them. We cast a very wide net that allows us to create a diverse team of outstanding thinkers, challengers, and doers who make our organization better. Diversity not only aligns us better with clients and markets, but it also plays a crucial role in guiding our growth and shaping the foundation of our firm.

Our objective is to bring together a diverse team of exceptionally bright and talented individuals and to make them feel a genuine sense of belonging, value, and ability to contribute to our firm and clients in a meaningful and rewarding way. By celebrating individuality, we are building a culture of excellence, attracting people who are not only just highly talented but are innovative, collaborative, and thoughtful.”

Headshot of Naushin Vahora"When starting in this industry, I didn’t see a lot of people who looked like me or had my ethnic or cultural background. I naturally assumed I’d have to assimilate in order for my career to grow. However, after joining CAC Specialty, I quickly learned that we are proactively working towards changing this narrative. My unique background is cherished and respected.

Ongoing DE&I Education

Workshops

CAC Specialty colleagues engage in ongoing DE&I training through quarterly educational workshops. Recognizing the importance of fostering a more inclusive workplace environment, CAC Specialty engaged Nona Lee, founder and CEO of Truth DE&I and former Chief Legal Officer of the Arizona Diamondbacks, to conduct specialized training sessions for colleagues over the past year. These sessions have led to valuable discussions on topics such as:

  • Understanding Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  • Unconscious Bias
  • Microaggressions and Bias

CAC Specialty & Cobbs Allen
Impact Day 2023

Our first Impact Day was a tremendous success, with an outstanding turnout from our Cobbs Allen and CAC Specialty colleagues. A big thank you to the DE&I Committee, CAC Cares, and Cobbs Give Back, who led the charge in organizing our first-ever Impact Day in July 2023. Together, we made a significant difference by volunteering and supporting non-profit organizations in our seven largest cities, partnering with food banks, a homeless shelter and the Salvation Army, to name a few.

Highlights from our first Impact Day include volunteer projects in Birmingham, Denver, Houston, New York and Atlanta, with more than 125 colleagues participating. Looking ahead, we aim to expand Impact Day to encompass all CAC/CAH offices, creating regional volunteer events where employees can support local community organizations. We want every employee to have the opportunity to engage and take action in support of underrepresented and marginalized groups within our communities.

We are thrilled by the success of our inaugural Impact Day and appreciate our colleagues' support and engagement.
