Peter Winterburn, Esq.

Peter Winterburn joined CAC Specialty as a Senior Vice President, overseeing legal matters within the Healthcare and Senior Living practice groups. With nearly 20 years of experience as a litigation defense attorney, Peter has represented and assisted health care owners and operators in all matters of litigation, risk management, and claims handling across the continuum of care.  Peter has also written arbitration agreements and trained health care providers on arbitration.  Peter’s experience includes both lead and supporting counsel in arbitrations and jury trials, notably in Senior Living and Medical Malpractice cases.

Prior to joining CAC, Peter was an Equity Shareholder at Lewis Thomason, P.C., serving in the firm’s healthcare practice group.  He is an active member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and its Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee.  Peter served as chairman of the DRI Nursing Home/Assisted Living Seminar in New Orleans in 2018. His legal acumen has also earned him a spot on the “Mid-South Super Lawyers Rising Stars” list.

Outside of work, Peter enjoys playing golf and basketball.  He lives in Memphis with his wife and three children.  Peter holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis, as well as a bachelor’s degree in musical arts and psychology from Vanderbilt University.
