John Kim

John is a Senior Vice President at CAC Specialty in the Environmental Practice. He advises clients on risk management strategies, consults and develops insurance solutions on complex risks that include operational and legacy liabilities. His experience is wide-ranging and includes working with public and private sector clients from municipalities and affordable housing developers to large real estate firms, Fortune 500 multinational companies, and large environmental contractors/consultants. John is involved directly in all phases of the environmental advisory process – from initial assessment to detailed negotiations with insurance product line managers and underwriters.

Prior to joining CAC, John was a Managing Director and the West Zone Environmental Practice Leader at Marsh. Prior to that he was a Managing Principal and the Environmental Practice Leader for a mid-size brokerage firm.

Other experience includes serving as the Director of the Commercial and Real Estate unit for Kemper Insurance Companies where he managed a team of underwriters focusing on publicly traded companies and private real estate owners and developers.

John started his career in environmental insurance as an underwriter at AXA XL (formerly ECS, Inc.). His experience in the environmental industry includes serving as an environmental consultant working under the US EPA Technical Enforcement contract in Region 3 in Philadelphia, as an environmental scientist conducting environmental due diligence, remedial investigations, and industrial hygiene services for real estate, industrial clients, and financial institutions.

John currently lives in San Francisco, California with his wife and three kids.
