David is a Senior Vice President at CAC Specialty with the Transactional Liability Practice. He specializes in negotiating, placing, and advocating for coverage on Representation and Warranty, Tax Indemnity and Tax Liability, and Contingent Risk Insurance for a wide range of industries from healthcare to oil and gas brokering deals from $5M to more than $1B.

David particularly enjoys using insurance solutions to address “deal breaker” issues in transactions. He partners with clients to help create bespoke insurance policies for an array of known risks, including tax issues arising in Mergers and Acquisitions (e.g., S-corp, transfer pricing), tax-credit qualification (e.g., PTC, ITC), and contingent risks (e.g., pending litigation, successor liability risks, fraudulent transfer risks).

Prior to joining CAC, David was a Vice President at McGriff, Seibels & Williams where he co-led the firm’s Transactional Insurance Practice. Before his career in insurance, he practiced law, first as a law clerk on the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, and then at King & Spalding LLP, and then with Miller & Martin PLLC where he focused on complex insurance coverage matters, post-acquisition disputes, and civil appeals. David has litigated cases in state and federal courts across the county, including the US Supreme Court.

David earned his Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude in Religion and Environmental Science from Sewanee, The University of the South, and graduated as valedictorian from Vanderbilt University School of Law.
